The Opportunity Fund is the World Justice Project's seed grants program to strengthen the rule of law in communities, countries and regions around the world. The Opportunity Fund as two equally important objectives:
In keeping WJP's philosophy that we are all stakeholders in the rule of law, Opportunity Fund grants support collaborative projects to strengthen the rule of law involving two or more disciplines. Each grant funded program is designed to address a concrete problem facing the grantees' discipline(s) and/or region.
The current round of the Opportunity Fund provides funding to support action-oriented programs conceived by multidisciplinary coalitions formed at the Vienna World Justice Forum in 2008.
The WJP has awarded grants to 36 proposals representing all the world's regions. The programs receiving funding were competitively selected from 66 applications from 2008 World Justice Forum participants. The grantees will present the results of these grants at WJP's next Forum to be held in Vienna on November 2009.
